Scouts

Scouts is the third section in the Scouting family, and has been running for the longest time.

Scouts are typically 10.5 - 14yrs old.

As an active Scout Troop, we get up to all sorts of exciting and adventurous activities, both in our regular meetings and on camps and visits.

What do scouts do?

Scouts are at the age where they can experience the true adventure that scouting has to offer – from arts and crafts and cooking in the meeting place to jumping off cliffs, climbing, sailing, hiking, raft building and cooking for them selves outdoors, and much more!

We aim to give scouts a wide range of experiences so they can learn some new #SkillsForLife by accident along the way.

At this age, we encourage girls and boys to take responsibility for themselves and each other, with members leading a small team. They like being with friends and participating fully in the adventure of life.

In Scout Troops:

  • Develop leadership skills
  • Learn emergency aid
  • Spend nights away – the summer camp is often the highlight of the year
  • Help others in the community
  • Cook, both at home and at camp
  • Adventurous and sporting activities – anything from abseiling to zorbing
  • Learn survival skills
